Printing tips
- Print the PDF in landscape orientation at Actual size or 100% scale so both credentials land side by side and each measures a full 4 x 6 inches.
- Only two credentials fit per page, so count sheets ahead of time: a crew of 150 needs 75 sheets of cardstock.
- Set the paper type to cardstock and feed thick sheets one at a time through the rear or manual slot when you can.
- Print the outlines-only test page on plain paper first; if the pair lands off center, move it with the offset control in 1/32 inch steps, up to 1/4 inch.
- Keep role strip text and the zone line at least 1/8 inch from the trimmed edge, since pouch seams can hide the outer rim.
- For outdoor use, let inkjet prints dry completely before sealing them in a pouch, since water can make dye-based ink run.
Room for role strips and zone info on a 4 x 6 credential
Four by six inches is the credential size for festivals, tournaments and multi-day events because it carries more than a name. A useful stack from top to bottom: event name and logo, a first name around 60 to 72 points, a smaller last name with crew or team, then a full-width role strip in bold uppercase such as ALL ACCESS, CREW, COACH, REF or MEDIA. Drive the strip from the Group column, so every distinct role gets its own color and you can override the printed label. Put zone details in a custom column, for example Stage and Backstage or Fields 1 to 4, and place the {{custom1}} token under the strip. Leave the bottom inch plain if staff write shift times by hand. Choose a smaller 3 x 4 badge for indoor guests who don't need zone details.
Keeping 4 x 6 passes readable through a weekend outdoors
Outdoor credentials face sweat, rain and sunscreen. A clear lanyard pouch, ideally one with a zip or fold-over top, keeps the card dry, and heavy cardstock resists curling in humidity. Laser prints usually survive a splash better than inkjet prints; if you only have an inkjet, let the sheets dry overnight before pouching them. Bold role strips are easier to spot from a distance than subtle tints, so keep strong contrast between the strip and its text. Print a few spare credentials for each role for crew who lose theirs, and note who received a replacement. A printed pass helps staff recognize roles at a glance, but it is not a secure credential, so back it up with wristbands or check-in lists for restricted areas.

How do I show zone access on a 4 x 6 festival or tournament credential?
Add a column to your spreadsheet named something like Zones, fill in values such as Stage and Catering or Fields 1 to 4, and map it to the custom field. Will a 4 x 6 credential fit in a standard lanyard pouch?
Pouches sold for 4 x 6 inch cards take this credential, but measure the inside of the opening, because some pouches are sized by their outer edge and fit tightly. Trim a hair inside the cut lines if a pass catches on the seam. Zip-top pouches are worth the extra step for rain or dusty fields.
How many 4 x 6 passes fit on a sheet of cardstock?

Does inkjet or laser hold up better for outdoor 4 x 6 passes?
Laser toner generally resists water better than dye-based inkjet ink, which can bleed when a pass gets rained on. Pigment inkjet inks are more water resistant than dye inks. Whichever printer you use, a sealed or zip-top lanyard pouch does more to protect the print than the printer choice does, so plan for pouches first.
Can a printed 4 x 6 credential stop people sneaking into restricted areas?
It helps staff notice who belongs, but paper is easy to copy and the site adds no barcodes or anti-counterfeit marks. For backstage or field access, back the credential with a check at each entry point, such as a crew list, wristbands or colored hand stamps changed each day. Collect credentials at the end so nobody reuses them.
